Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, actually water softeners will reduce build-up and scaling, extending the life of your water heater, pipes, fixtures, and appliances. Using a water softener (with good potable water) will extend the life of the RO membranes of the PristineHydro Revival System.
PristineHydro water tastes like natural spring water, with a nice, light, refreshing mineral taste. PristineHydro’s patent pending technology restores the water’s natural mineral properties, improves its surface tension and biological availability, and improves the hydration of your body. In addition, everything you use water for should taste better with PristineHydro water.
This new patent pending technology is proprietary to the PristineHydro Development, Inc. It is the first technology of its kind to be applied to home drinking water systems that offer ultra-purified, restructured, and properly re-mineralized water.
Yes. PristineHydro utilizes the highest quality RO membrane in order to provide the best (effective rejection) quality of water for the longest period of time. However, hard water will shorten the life of the RO membrane and some of the other filters, therefore it will function just fine, but it might require more frequent replacement.
No highly-toxic plastic bottles, less trash, more environmentally friendly, no trips to the store, and no monthly billing, as much or as little water as you need is always available.
Yes, most people find changing the filters themselves is simple and easy.
9.5 to 10.5. pH is calculated by the number of hydrogen ions in solution. At a pH of 7, there are either no ions in the water (pure H2O must be kept is a sealed container so there are no ions in the water) or the hydrogen and hydroxyl ions have equal concentrations, making the the solution appear neutral. However, these concentrations only hold true at 25°C. As the temperature increases or decreases, the ion concentrations will also shift, thus shifting the pH value.

No, the pH of water is checked with a pH Solution Kit (available for $18.00)
Yes, it can only be lowered, to approximately to 8.5 – 9.0 by turning the dial on the magnesium cartridge to the by-pass position (open/perpendicular position); this will reduce (not stop) the amount of magnesium injected into the water.
Prior to the re-mineralization stage of our system, the TDS is 0, indicating purity; after re-mineralization the TDS is approximately 65 PPM, which evidences the magnesium (with traces of calcium, sodium, and chloride) injected into the water by the system. The TDS will decrease over time and the magnesium cartridge should be replaced when the TDS is below 25 PPM.
It is based on usage, model, and the TDS of the source water. The under counter Water Revival System will require its first filter change after approximately 1,500 gallons. The Counter Top and Travel Water Revival Systems will require the first filter change after approximately 1,000 gallons. If the TDS of your source water is lower than 400, the filters will last much longer.
Each PristineHydro Water Revival System comes with a TDS meter. If the TDS is under 70 and water production is fine you do not have to change any filters. When water production decreases and/or the TDS increases, it is time to change filters. Many people like to change filters pro-actively to maintain high system performance rather than waiting for degradation. In that case the 5 Micron, KDF/Carbon/Hydroxy Apatite, and Dual DI filters should be every 12 to 24 months, depending on usage and the TDS of the source water. The RO Membrane, Magnesium Cartridge, and the Post Carbon should be changed every three years (approx. 4,000 gallons), again, it depending on usage and the TDS of the source water.
Yes, you can put 1 or 2 teaspoons in a 16oz. bottle of water and drink ElectrolyteBalance™ throughout the day; especially ideal when exercising or very active.
We do not use stabilizers or preservatives therefore shaking the bottle every day or so will do the trick.
Now that the acid problem is under control, we can safely add Shilajit, which has 84 organic plant based minerals and fulvic, humic, and ulmic acids (good acids). Taking Shilajit with excess bad acids in the body will only exacerbate metabolic acidosis. When used correctly Shilajit, can live up to its name, “the panacea, the cure all,” in Ayurveda Medicine it was stated that if a disease was caught in time, there was nothing that Shilajit could not cure. Bee products are among nature’s most remarkable and versatile nutritional substances in nature. Throughout history, humankind has revered the beehive as a sustainer of youth, a source of healing and creator of nutritious foods. Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly and Propolis possess antibacterial and antioxidant qualities that may promote health in many ways, including, combating allergies, weight control and lowering cholesterol.

“Zero Waste” systems can have issues: (1) They are more likely to foul with a source water that has high total dissolved solids (TDS); (2) Shortened system life and more frequent membrane changes. The life of the PristineHydro Reverse Osmosis Membrane can last for 2 to 3 years under normal water conditions for normal family use. We also have a bypass valve on our system to flush out the RO membrane that increases the life of the membrane significantly. Our units have a waste to recovery rate of 1-to-1 while most RO systems are at 5-to-1, which means that for every gallon made five go down the drain; Further, some companies have recently introduced “zero waste” RO systems, which claim not to waste any water, but these systems still produce brine water as a by-product of the RO process; they can be labeled as “zero waste” systems because the brine water is recycled, not flushed down the drain as wastewater. “Zero Waste” RO systems come in two basic types. (1) The more advanced systems eliminate water waste by pumping the brine water into the hot water plumbing instead of down the drain. The drawback to this design is that the brine water injected into the hot water line will be discharged from all of your hot water faucets shower, cooking, dishes, etc, and into your dishwasher; they also can take years off of the life of your water heater. (2) The less advanced systems pump the brine water back into the cold water line feeding the RO unit. The downside to this design is that the additional concentrated brine water in the feed water will force the RO system to work harder, wearing down system components more quickly, and resulting in more frequent filter changes and overall shorter system life. Both types of “zero waste” RO systems eliminate water waste but their downsides are significant; bottom line: the bad stuff has to go somewhere!
The Under-Counter system will fit under most standard (25+”) height sinks.
Yes, it requires a 5/8” hole be available or made for installation.
The Counter-top system will fit under most standard over-counter cabinets (18+” clearance).
Yes! The crock is removable, allowing you to fill any container that fits under the float/fill assembly. **Please use caution when filling other containers; you must monitor the water level carefully to prevent overflow.
Yes. All PristineHydro Water Revival Units require a minimum 50 lbs of water pressure for proper performance. If your water pressure is low we sell booster pumps – call  the office.
